My name is Rick Moore and I am the Associate Director for Faculty Programs at The Center for Teaching and Learning at Washington University in St. Louis and a Lecturer in WashU's Department of Sociology.

I earned my PhD in sociology from the University of Chicago and an MA in religion from Columbia University.  My sociological research investigates culture, cognition, religion, secularism, politics, theory, and research methods. My research in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) examines active learning methodologies and the training of teaching assistants.  I've published articles in several peer-reviewed journals, including Sociological Science and Qualitative Sociology.

I've taught a wide range of courses at a variety of institutions, including elite institutions, regional liberal arts schools and community colleges.  My teaching style is participatory and  evidence based; I embrace active learning pedagogies.  Teaching in an integral part of my identity as a scholar and as an educational developer.
