My name is Rick Moore and I'm a Postdoctoral Associate in the Active Learning Initiative in the Department of Sociology at Cornell University.
My research investigates culture, cognition, religion, secularism, politics, theory, research methods, and active learning methodologies. I've published articles in several peer-reviewed journals, including Sociological Science and Qualitative Sociology. I earned my PhD in sociology from the University of Chicago in 2018 and an MA in religion from Columbia University.
I've taught a wide range of sociology courses at a variety of institutions, including elite institutions, regional liberal arts schools and community colleges. I also have experience with faculty development, instructional design and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). My teaching style is participatory and evidence based; I embrace active learning pedagogies. Teaching in an integral part of my identity as a scholar and vital to my research agenda.
